Offered here for your consideration is a civil war era sword made by D.J. Millard of Clayville NY. It was produced under a government contract for sabers by the D.J. Millard Company’s manufacturing center. This early production weapon is a based on a Model 1860 Light Cavalry saber design. Considered a lighter and more maneuverable weapon than the prior model (the Model 1840 was often called the wrist-breaker), the light cavalry saber only weighed about 3 ½ pounds with the scabbard. This is a great opportunity to add to your sword, military or Civil War collection. MAKER: D.J. Millard, Clayville, NY. APPROX. AGE: Circa 1860s. SIZE: The blade length measures 35 inches, with an overall length of 42 inches. CONDITION: Pretty good for its age, wear and use expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
