Offered here for your consideration is a large Apache burden basket. Burden baskets, usually made with willow or cottonwood, were used to carry food, firewood and personal items. This large burden basket is amply decorated with woven geometrics, it rests in a strong leather frame for carrying or hanging and is finished with rawhide dangles ending in tin tinklers. The Apache have been esteemed as superior basket makers since learning new techniques from the Yavapai during the late 1800s which they quickly adopted and adapted. Apache baskets are highly sought after and getting harder to find. Consider this one for your collection now!
