Presented here for your buying pleasure is a large pot by Hopi potter Loretta Silas Poleahla. This exquisite polychrome beauty was made with a traditional coil and scrape method. It was then decorated with paints made from native organic materials. Decorated in red and black on a yellow clay body this pot features a myriad of designs including geometrics, mountains, corn stalks, birds and more. The skilled potter, Loretta Silas Poleahla, was from a family of potters who lived in the First Mesa Village of Polacca. Hopi pottery is known for its traditional designs and for being completely handmade. It is the yellow to dark orange hues of Hopi pottery that distinguishes it from the other Pueblos.
