Offered here for your consideration is a carved bear themed catlinite pipe with stem. This is an unusual bear themed catlinite pipe bowl on a long, shaped wood pipe stemwhich may not be original to the pipe bowl. Catlinite, also known as pipestone, is a red clay stone that was prized by Native American tribes for the ease with which it could be shaped. It was named for the early George Caitlin, the early 19th century painter who often painted Native Americans. This interesting pipe would be a nice addition to your pipe or Native American collections, or an interesting decor item. APPROX AGE: Antique (meaning made prior to the 1930s).
SIZE: The pipe overall, including stem, measures approximately 29 inches long. The pipe measures 3 inches long x 2 1/2 inches high.
CONDITION: Average for its age, some wear and minor imperfections expected. Note - there is a crack on the pipe. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
