Presented here for your consideration is an antique Pima design basket. This amazingly designed basket features a nicely patinated background. It is decorated with brown designs, including a central flower like motif, along with more geometric patterns. A lovely brown rim finishes off this weaving.
The Pima (Akimel O'Odham), who reside in central and southern Arizona, produced magnificent baskets with meaningful designs and patterns. Their finely-coiled baskets are made of cattail or bear grass foundation and closely stitched with willow and devil's claw for designs. They are some of the most sought after of the Southwestern baskets by collectors. The craftsmanship on this basket is just wonderful, so go ahead and bid now!
